Camilia: A short but bright life

Dynamic, radiant and driven by contagious energy, Camilia lived every moment with passion and determination. Accepted into medicine at McGill, she was on the verge of realizing her dream when an aggressive osteosarcoma, in the base of her skull, disrupted her path. Despite illness, Camilia brilliantly finished her first year at McGill.

Brilliant and determined, she stood out by earning multiple excellence scholarships and prestigious certificates of distinction throughout her short life.

An accomplished athlete, Camilia won eight gold medals in figure skating and at the age of 16, she became the youngest national ocean lifeguard in the 2019-2020 SN Hawaii edition. This accomplishment demonstrates her discipline and determination.

Involved and generous, Camilia was dedicated to volunteer work from a young age, whether with new immigrants or through blood drives. Amazingly, even from her hospital bed, she raised over $45,000 for sarcoma research.

Camilia faced her illness with the same intensity that defined every moment of her life. She fought, fell, and rose again after every challenge. In two years, she underwent eight surgeries, each time rising again with her radiant, beautiful smile. She passed away peacefully, in her mother’s arms, surrounded by love. Her light and generosity continue to inspire all those who knew her.
